‘Vintage’ Nasi Dagang Kit (Original Terengganu Taste)
‘Vintage’ Nasi Dagang Kit is a ready to cook kit that is surely going to please all those who are missing this original Terengganu rice and fish stew gravy dish. It comes complete with the rice and the fish stew gravy that goes along with it. All that needs to be done is to cook and enjoy with your loved ones.
Let’s cook the fragrant rice
Method:
- Wash the fragrant rice well. Soak in water for at least 1 hour. After 1 hour drain the water from the rice and leave it aside.
- Follow the instructions on the kit to cook the rice.
Let’s cook the fish stew gravy
Step A
Ingredients:
- Tuna fish slices
- Dried tamarind pieces given in the kit
- Water
- Salt
Method:
- Pour some water in a pan. Add some salt and stir. Go easy on the salt as the fish stew paste is already salted. Add the dried tamarind pieces given.
- Place the fish slices gently inside and cook on the stove covered.
- Once the fish slices are cooked, remove them and leave them aside.
- Save the stock from the fish as it can be used in the fish stew.
Step B
Ingredients:
- Boiled fish slices
- Fish stock
- Paste from the kit to make the fish stew
Method:
- In a big pot, pour in Paste from the kit to make the fish stew. If too thick you can thin it with the fish stock. Stir well and let it cook.
- Add in the fish slices gently and let the fish soak in the gravy. Cover and cook for a few minutes.
- Do a taste test to see if it suits your palate. You can adjust with some seasonings if you want to.
- Once done remove from heat and plate it up.

Ingredients:
- 1 Cucumber – sliced thinly after removing seeds
- 2 onions – thinly sliced
- 1 chilli – thinly sliced
- ½ carrot – thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 60ml white vinegar
Method:
- In a large serving bowl, add the vinegar, sugar and salt. Mix well.
- Add in the vegetables and give a good stir and mix.
- Refrigerate until ready to be served.
