‘Pilah’ Smoked Chicken (Ayam Salai)
‘Pilah’ Smoked Chicken (Ayam Salai) is the result of a method of preparing chicken which can be kept and used for a long period of time. Smoking adds flavour, improves the appearance of the chicken and preserves the meat.
Smoked Chicken Salad using ‘Pilah’ Smoked Chicken (Ayam Salai)
Ingredients:
SALAD (All salad ingredients, clean, wash and pat dry before cutting, slicing or dicing)
- 180 G Salad Leaves
- 10 Slices Cucumber, Cut Into Quarters
- 10 Cherry Tomatoes, Cut Into Halves
- ½ Each Red, Yellow And Green Pepper, Cut Into Small Cubes
- Crumbed Feta Cheese
- 5 Olives, Cut Into Halves
- 2 Pieces Of Sun Dried Tomatoes, Cut Into Pieces
- 1 Pack ‘Pilah’ Smoked Chicken (Ayam Salai), Cut Into Bite Size Pieces
- 1 Avocado, Cut Into Slices Or Cubes
- ½ Red Onion, Cut Into Half Rings
SALAD DRESSING
- One Third Cup Honey
- 3 Tablespoons Whole Grain Mustard
- 2 Tablespoons Dijon Mustard
- 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- Salt And Pepper To Taste
Method:
Step 1
- Place all the salad dressing ingredients in a bowl and give a good whisk.
- Do a taste test and adjust accordingly.
Step 2
- Place all the salad ingredients in a large serving bowl and give a good toss.
- Slowly drizzle in the salad dressing and give a good mix.
- Do not pour all the salad dressing at once as it would leave the salad soggy while serving.
- Do a taste test again and if needed, do some adjusting.
- The balance dressing can be left on the table if anyone wants it.
Step 3
- Add ½ of the smoked chicken pieces and give a final toss.
- The remaining smoked chicken can be used before serving. Enjoy!
