Curry puff is a traditional Asian snack made from a combination of pastry shell with fillings prepared from mildly curried potatoes with chicken, beef or fish (namely mackerel or sardines). It is then fried in vegetable oil and served fresh; sometimes sold frozen but once cooked, it is served warm as snack or appetiser.
Mini curry puff is a cute version of curry puff with two different characteristics; firstly of course, its size and secondly the filling. Mini puff filling is made from savoury serunding ikan which can last up to 6 months or more if kept in cool and dry place.
The recipe of this traditional snack has not changed at all since our younger days when we would spend our weekends taking turns helping mum preparing the serunding ikan – which would fill the readily prepared pastries. The full preparation from cleaning and boiling of fish first and followed with the slow cooking process takes up to 6-8 hours in order to achieve its full flavour. The final product is lightly moist and crumbly-dry serunding. It is savoury and mildly-spiced – a distinct Asian flavour.
We first introduced this snack to our British friends back in the 1980’s and they simply loved it.
And now, with Halal Street we are bringing back this special traditional snack which previously can only be found in the east coast in Malaysia to the UK, before introducing it to the rest of the world.
It is packed in small airtight canister and can last for up to 6 months. It is free from any preservatives, colourings or artificial flavours.
Instead of sticking to the normal choice of snacks like conventional crisps of chip, try this today! You will love it!
Ingredient: Wheat flour, vegetable oil, red onions, garlic, dried chilies, ginger, pepper, turmeric, dried garcinia, salt and sugar.
