‘KAKJA CORNER’ Fruit Rojak Sauce
Fruit Rojak Sauce is a key ingredient to produce a great Rojak dish in Malaysia. Rojak (in Malay language means mixed) is a salad dish commonly sold in many restaurants in Malaysia There are many variants but the most popular is a salad composed of a mixture of sliced fruits and vegetables served with a spicy sugar dressing.
Let’s Make Fruit Rojak (Eat it as an appetizer, a snack or even as a meal by adding some protein like roasted chicken or roasted lamb or roasted beef and more vegetables like carrots, zucchini kale, spinach. The sky’s the limit when you are experimenting and creating your own dish.)
Ingredients:
- ½ pineapple (peeled and cut into chunks)
- 1 green mango (peeled and cubed)
- 1 small jicama/water turnip (peeled and cubed)
- 1 small cucumber (cut into bite size pieces)
- 1 green apple (peeled and cubed)
- ¼ cup peanuts (toasted and chopped)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (toasted)
- Lettuce
- Lime juice
- Rojak Sauce
- Bean Sprouts (cleaned washed and blanched in hot water for 5 minutes)
Method:
- Place all the diced fruits in a big container.
- Tear up the lettuce into bite size pieces.
- Pour the rojak sauce and mix well. Don’t pour the entire packet. Do a taste test each time and add more sauce if needed. Add some lime juice to give a slight tangy taste to this dish. Remember to give a good mix.
- Finally top with bean sprouts, sprinkle the toasted chopped nuts and sesame seeds.
- Plate it up and serve. Enjoy !
- Avoid using fruits with high water content as the rojak would turn mushy.
