Dafesa Beef Flakes (Daging Kering)
Dafesa Beef Flakes is a family recipe since 1961 and is a popular Kelantan (Coastal state in West Malaysia) Traditional Cuisine . It is made with 100 % local premium boneless trimmed beef without the fat, cooked and marinated with salt and lots of tamarind peel for hours. Then, it is deep-fried until it becomes golden and crispy. The texture is flakey and fluffy with a slight salty crisp taste. The fried shallots in this recipe adds a little extra sweetness to the beef flakes.
Let’s make a wrap with Dafesa Beef Flakes
Ingredients:
- 1 to 2 wraps (Your choice of wrap, e.g garlic, plain or wholemeal)
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons chilli sauce
- 1 lettuce leave, chopped finely
- 1 pack Dafesa Beef Flakes
- 1 tomato, diced in cubes
- ½ avocado, sliced thinly
Method:
- Mix the mayonnaise and chilli sauce and leave it aside.
- In a frying pan lightly toast the wraps.
- Spread the mayo-chilli mixture on the toasted wrap generously.
- Spread some chopped lettuce, followed by beef flakes, tomato and finally avocado.
- Roll your wrap and serve immediately. The longer you keep, it would become soggy.
- Enjoy this with a bowl of hot creamy soup. A great comfort food on a cold wintery day.
Note: if you want something spicier in your wrap, you can go for ready to eat sambal (spicy sauce) instead of the mayo-chilli mixture. This sambal is available in different varieties in most Asian markets.
